On Friday 17th September our Hertfordshire retirement village, Mayfield Watford took a step closer to opening by hosting a ‘Topping Out’ ceremony, a landmark occasion that celebrates the weatherproofing of the roof.
The Topping Out ceremony was hosted by Nick Sanderson, CEO of Audley Group, who welcomed a number of guests including, Dean Russell MP, Leo Quinn, Group Chief Executive of Balfour Beatty, Blackrock Real Estate, Homes England and Mayfield property purchasers.
The event culminated in the planting of a tree, which symbolised the Topping Out process, Nick helped to plant the tree using a ceremonial spade that was presented to him by Leo and Balfour Beatty. This was followed by afternoon tea and refreshments for all of our guests.
Nick commented – “The completion of the external building phase of Mayfield Watford is a proud moment for many of us. There is a real lack of villages like this in the UK, and a growing older population that deserve better choices. We are delighted to have brought that choice to those living in and around the Watford area, and to be part of this incredible regeneration programme in Watford Riverwell.
“The ceremony today was a nice chance to celebrate the achievements of all those who are working on the project, from tradesmen to architects. We are looking forward to completing the internal fit out and welcoming our first Mayfield owners to this fantastic Hertfordshire village”.
